Dermaplaning at Bene
Instantly smoother. Visibly brighter. Surgical-quality exfoliation that removes dead skin cells and peach fuzz in one gentle pass, leaving your skin soft, radiant, and ready to absorb everything you put on it.
WHAT IS DERMAPLANING?
Physical exfoliation, elevated.
Dermaplaning is a manual exfoliation technique that uses a sterile, surgical-quality blade to gently remove the outermost layer of dead skin cells as well as vellus hair — the fine, soft "peach fuzz" that covers your face.
The treatment is non-invasive, requires no downtime, and delivers immediate results. Your skin will look and feel noticeably smoother the moment you walk out the door — and your skincare products (and makeup) will glide on like never before.
Unlike chemical exfoliants, dermaplaning doesn't rely on active ingredients — it's purely physical, making it one of the most universally tolerated exfoliation methods we offer at Bené.
WHY CLIENTS LOVE IT
Benefits of Dermaplaning
Immediate smoothness
Results you can see and feel before you leave the treatment room. Skin is noticeably softer and more refined right away.
Flawless makeup application
Foundation sits differently on freshly dermaplaned skin. More evenly, more smoothly. Popular before weddings, events, or photoshoots.
Deeper product penetration
Without that layer of dead cells in the way, your serums, moisturizers, and treatments absorb more effectively, both in-spa and at home.
Safe during pregnancy
When retinols and salicylic acid aren't an option, dermaplaning offers effective exfoliation without any ingredient concerns.
Peach fuzz removal
That fine vellus hair comes right off. It won't grow back thicker or darker. Vellus hair doesn't have the same follicle structure as terminal hair.
No downtime
Minimal redness, no peeling, no recovery window. Go right back to your day. Just apply SPF as usual.
WHAT TO EXPECT
The experience, step by step.
Skin Assessment
Your esthetician evaluates your skin and confirms dermaplaning is appropriate that day. Active breakouts, open wounds, or certain skin conditions may require an alternate approach.

Double Cleanse
A thorough cleanse prepares your skin — removing makeup, sunscreen, oil, and any residue so the blade can work on clean, prepped skin.

2
Dermaplaning
Using a sterile, single-use surgical blade at a precise angle, your esthetician performs short, feathering strokes across the skin. Gentle, controlled, and oddly satisfying.

Dermaplaning FAQs

-
No. This is the most common myth about dermaplaning, and it's not true. Vellus hair doesn't have the same follicle structure as terminal hair. Removing it with a blade doesn't change the follicle, so it grows back exactly the same. Same texture, same color. It may feel slightly stubbly as it grows in, but it won't be darker or coarser.
-
Minimal to none. Some clients experience slight redness right after. This typically resolves within a few hours. Avoid direct sun, apply SPF, and skip active products like retinols or AHAs for 24–48 hours post-treatment.
-
Every 4–6 weeks is the typical recommendation, aligning with your skin's natural cell turnover cycle. Your esthetician will help you find the right cadence for your skin.
-
It depends. If you have active, inflamed breakouts, we'll skip dermaplaning to avoid irritation. For persistent or significant acne, our Acne Bootcamp program is a more targeted path.
-
Yes, and it will look incredible. Foundation sits more evenly and lasts longer on freshly dermaplaned skin. Just wait a few hours for any sensitivity to settle first.
-
Both are physical exfoliation methods, but dermaplaning uses a manual blade and also removes peach fuzz (microdermabrasion doesn't). Many clients find dermaplaning gentler and more relaxing.
-
Yes! Dermaplaning is available as a $60 add-on to Hydrafacials, traditional facials, and chemical peels, subject to esthetician discretion. Check out our Hydrafacials here.
